The Ta-da! List (Tracking Your Accomplishments)

Keeping track of my professional accomplishments has always been super important to me. It’s a great way to compile all the information I need to prepare for performance reviews, promotional opportunities, and interviews. Creating milestones to celebrate quick wins help keep me encouraged when tackling more complicated tasks. Plus, looking at all that I’ve done makes me super proud of myself!

At the end of every month, I sit down, grab my Sarasa® Grand Gel Retractable Pen and journal that I keep specifically for work notes, and write out my Ta-da! List – a.k.a. all of the reasons I totally rock at my job!

Check out more information here to see how you can Choose Different!

There are a few different ways that you can keep track of your accomplishments. Some people like to use a digital document on Word, Google, or Excel, but I prefer the good old-fashioned way of writing with a pen and paper. I just think there’s something intimate about putting a pen to paper that creates a deeper connection to the words you’re writing.

If you know me, and many of you do by now, I’m a little bit of a perfectionist and love a good deal. That’s why I never start one of my journaling sessions without my Sarasa Grand affordable premium pen. It glides wonderfully across the paper, never smudges (huge benefit for lefties), and is affordable for the quality!

Plus, the stylish Sarasa Grand pen comes in 6 different barrel colors including Navy, Gold, Rose Gold, Black, White, and Turquoise so you can pick a color that suits your style.

Creating your Ta-da! List

From reaching small goals to completely bashing big ones, there’s no accomplishment that is too minor to write down on your Ta-da! List. Trust me, when it comes time to update your resume or negotiate a pay increase, you’ll be glad you kept track of it all!

Here are 5 things that I make sure to include on my list every month:

  1. Quantifiable results – Anything that has a number or percentage attached to it. Examples might be sales numbers, social media growth/impressions, or recruitments. Write down specifically how you attained your goals.

  2. Overcoming challenges – Did you get your company out of a particularly sticky situation? Or mediate an issue between two colleagues? Those are skills, baby, write them down!

  3. Ability to meet deadlines – Better yet, make note (highlight it!) of the times when you accomplished a task with extreme efficiency and got it submitted well before the deadline.

  4. Leadership positions – Keep track of the times you were either appointed to or volunteered for a leadership position, as well as your performance in said position. This includes groups within the workplace as well as any that you may be a part of in your personal circles (clubs, organizations, board positions, etc.).

  5. Recognition & awards – Whether you’ve won Employee of the Month at work or Member of the Year in your organization, write it down! If your organization is related to the industry that you work in, the achievement will be particularly great to share in performance reviews. It shows dedication to your profession!

List! It’s the perfect time to do it – we just said goodbye (good riddance?) to 2020 and we’re looking ahead to a new year filled with tons of possibility. Who knows, that just might mean some big-time promotions… woo-hoo!
