My Favorite Stores for Affordable and Trendy Work Attire

I hate to say it, but in the corporate world, the book is often judged by its cover. What does this mean? It means that you’ve got to look the part! A professional career requires a professional wardrobe that is carefully cultivated so you can use each piece in multiple outfits – my secret to expanding my wardrobe without spending any money.

Speaking of saving money, I know that building a professional wardrobe can get quite expensive. That’s why I wanted to talk to you about my favorite stores to get work clothes that are professional, trendy and, most importantly, AFFORDABLE! You know much I love a bargain.

J. Crew

I know, I know J. Crew is actually kind of pricey. But, have you ever seen their SALES!? If you look at the right time, you can shop their entire store for 50% off! J. Crew is the perfect place to get those wardrobe staples that you can create multiple outfits with. I highly recommend picking up a versatile blazer!

Banana Republic

This might come as a shock to you, but I once purchased nearly $1500 of work attire from Banana Republic for under $400! I’m not kidding when I say I’m always on the lookout for a bargain.

Banana Republic, like J. Crew, is the perfect place to get your professional blouses, skirts, pants, and blazers that you might need to wear for an important meeting or presentation. Their clothes are high-quality and always on trend. They never disappoint!

Zara

Zara is an extremely trendy store that definitely has a European feel to it. Think H&M, but from Spain. I have found some pieces of clothing here that are not only perfect to wear to work, but they translate well to happy hour drinks, too! That’s why I love Zara for affordable work attire – their clothes are so versatile!

Although their regular prices are very affordable, make sure you check out their clearance section because there are items prices for under $10 sometimes! 

Target

I’ll admit that Target is pretty much my favorite store for everything, but their selection of professional work attire is usually the first place I head when I walk through the door! You can find so many amazing pieces for under $50, including shoes (my favorite).

Don’t skip out on the clearance rack either because I have found some serious gems in there for only a few dollars!

Keep it simple

If you’re ballin’ on a budget, the very best advice that I can give to you is to keep your wardrobe simple with neutral, solid colors. These pieces are very easy to mix and match with each other so you can turn 5 outfits into 20!
